What's New:

We are so excited for this upcoming year and can't wait to see you all at the Annual Coaches Convention this summer. Make sure to get those tickets before the price increases!!

We know last year many of you voiced that you wanted to know the changes prior to our General Assembly meeting.  We have had our annual board meeting and are so excited for cheer in North Dakota.

With that being said, the following are the changes to certification and competition that are being made this coming year:

Competition:

  • NDCCA will be hosting three competitions this coming year.  Battle in the Valley will take place on the eastern side of the state, Battle in the Badlands will take place on the western side of the state, and State Competition will be located in Bismarck, ND at the Bismarck Event Center.

  • Plaques will now be replaced with trophies and we will be including banners for 1st place teams at state.  Awards handed out at competitions will be the following:

    • Eastern and Western Competitions

      • 1st place: trophy and medals

      • 2nd place: medals

      • 3rd place: medals

    • State Competition

      • 1st place: Banner, trophy, and medals

      • 2nd place: trophy and medals

      • 3rd place: trophy and medals

  • We know many of you were upset this past year with the judging and feedback.  We are implementing that judges have certain credentials moving forward to avoid any negative comments in the future.

  • NDCCA is moving from 7 panel mats to 9 panels this year

  • The max number of athletes allowed on the mat for all team divisions will be 24

  • Stunt Off - teams will now be allowed to choose their uniforms worn on the mat for stunt off.  All teams MUST follow all NFHS rules and be tasteful.

  • We are encouraging college teams to come to competition to perform during our breaks

  • The "cheer" portion of the CDR has been removed and will now be called the Performance Division

  • We have created the addition of an All State Team.  More details to come on this at the coaches convention.

  • There will be a new clothing company who will be at all three competitions and will print shirts on site.

Certification:

  • Must submit proof of current USA Cheer membership with completed Athlete Protection Course. Must be Cheer Coach Membership or higher (The Athlete Protection Course must be taken every 5 years so this will count as your 5 year continuing education)

  • Attend a spirit rules meeting

  • Take and pass the spirit rules test

  • CPR (every two years)

  • Concussion (every two years)

  • Heat Related Illness (once)

  • Must attend a bona fide cheer camp

Additional Changes:

  • Beginning July 1, 2025, all regular board meetings will be open to anyone with a current membership.  You will all be able to submit an item to be added to the agenda before the first day of each month.  These are board meetings for board members but we invite you all to the meeting to listen in.

  • Beginning July 1, 2025, all director positions (ie. Competition Director, Certification Director, and Social Media Director) on the board will be paid, non voting positions on the board.

  • We have three board members who are on the Class B Outreach committee and will have helpful resources for Class B coaches. .

  • We have added Nfinity as a bonafide cheer camp for the state of North Dakota

We look forward to seeing you soon!!!
